The developer group RNA selected between the top architecture firms in Los Angeles, Los Angeles architects Rex Nichols Architects to design Layers of Water House which will be the first minimalist house in Malibu, Los Angeles, CA.
New Construction to be completed in late 2020 on the most beautiful dry lot in Malibu, with over one-third acre of park-like grounds, lush vegetation, and peaceful serenity. A private beach club and marina are reached by a leisurely five-minute stroll from the house.
This contemporary residence, named Layers of Water House is designed by Los Angeles architects Rex Nichols Architects (RNA), named a top 50 U.S. residential coastal architect by the prestigious Ocean Home Magazine. RNA engaged with the developer group to create an ultra-contemporary home that will surely win accolades for excellence in design and shall remain exquisite and intriguing for many decades.
The dramatic front façade, with its roof cantilever, filters the outdoors views while reflecting the natural surroundings in a stunning two-level waterfall. The façade design, with a double-floor glass curtain wall, creates a harmonious scale and balance between interior design and the mature landscaping outside. Penna, RNA Senior Designer, says, “The movement of falling water not only refreshes the outdoor temperature but also reflects the extraordinary views of the surrounding landscape and classical architecture, only found at Malibu." The contemporary architectural design, with few and small rear-facing windows, creates privacy yet welcomes the outdoors to all interior rooms. The combination of large and static design elements with passive and active views enhance contemplation.
On the first floor, a wrap-around pool embraces the master bedroom. As an option, two of the four additional en-suite bedrooms may be used as a home-gym or home-theater. The oversize garage offers generous accommodation for three cars, a golf cart, and a motorcycle. The three-car parking space can be doubled with the addition of car elevators due to the 11-feet 10-inches ceiling height. The innovative hangar doors provide design freedom for the garage and add a high-tech contemporary style element.
